Russian finance ministry denies reports on 1-year budget for 2017

MOSCOW, Aug 26 (PRIME) -- The Russian government is not discussing a draft one-year budget only for 2017, the Finance Ministry is working on a 3-year budget as stipulated in the budget law, Svetlana Nikitina, aide to Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, told PRIME Friday.

Business daily Vedomosti reported citing three government officials that the government may compile the budget only for 2017 instead of a planned 3-year budget as it has not made a key decision on future changes in taxes and due to upcoming elections.

“Neither the Finance Ministry, nor the government is discussing an option of a 1-year budget. We are working on a 3-year budget in accordance with the law,” Nikitina said.

Yevgeny Bushmin, a deputy speaker of the parliament’s upper house Federation Council, also confirmed that the government’s economic bloc is preparing a 3-year budget, which will be submitted to parliament on November 1.
